Texturing Combs are quite an essential key to accompany “TEXTURE REVIVAL” but are not really necessary in the fact that you may want to use the knowledge & info from “TEXTURE REVIVAL” to help you to complete the other important tasks from the book, plus the patterns & designs covered that don’t require Texturing Combs at all!

Having designed & written your full photographic course which focuses, amongst other tasks, on the correct interior surface preparation, (A subject that many home owners seem to have problems with!) so that you don’t have any time and money consuming comebacks later on! texture repairs, and your unique texture pattern/design guide are also FULLY COVERED into just one amazing DOWNLOADABLE information book titled, “TEXTURE REVIVAL” which shows & leads you to an alternative fashionable way to decorate your own ceilings and walls to a PROFFESIONAL STANDARD & Texture coating can also hide a multitude of un-even & bad surfaces. You will be able to easily & confidently complete these amazing Texturing techniques for yourself!

Texturing does go in and out of fashion as with any other form of interior decoration & is quite popular here in the UK! My aim is to bring decorative texture information to countries that are not too knowledgeable in the art of texturing as an alternative decorative surface coverage, and this is why I created the full home study course to help and show you that you can easily & confidently have a go yourself without going to the expense of calling in a professional!

Below is some information that I have put together, but honestly, if you can imagine a flexible material (texture coating) once applied (ROLLED ON) onto your well prepared ceiling and wall, by running, dabbing or drawing a tool of your choice through the coated surface you will create some sort of design or other, & this is where 'TEXTURE REVIVAL' guides you into the proffesional aspect of Texturing. Anyway, good luck & all the best, if there is anything I can help you with please contact me at my e-mail address above.

Kind Regards, Dale Ovenstone 2008

TEXTURING COMBS ARE USUALLY QUITE RIGID BUT SLIGHTLY FLEXIBLE & MADE FROM A TYPE OF PLASTIC MATERIAL, THEY ARE EITHER MOULDED FROM ONE PIECE OF PLASTIC, THAT IS TO SAY THE HANDLE AND THE SERRATED EDGE ARE AS ONE, OR MORE USUALLY THE HANDLE IS MADE FROM WOOD AND ATTACHED TO THIS IS A PLASTIC SERRATED EDGE FOR CREATING THE PATTERN TO THE APPLIED TEXTURE COATING.

THE SIZE OF THE COMB TO CREATE THE INITIAL PATTERN THROUGH THE APPLIED TEXTURE COATING IS NORMALLY 10 - 12" LONG AND THERE ARE MANY VARIATIONS AVAILABLE, ie:- THE SERRATED EDGE IS CUT OUT IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE COMB GIVES A DIFFERENT EFFECT WHEN IT IS DRAWN THROUGH THE APPLIED TEXTURE COATING, COMBS CAN BE BOUGHT OR EVEN CUT SMALLER FOR CREATING ALL MANNER OF EFFECTS, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE BORDERS, IN THE CORNERS & THE CENTRE LIGHT ROSE OF THE CEILING.

IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE YOUR OWN COMBS WITH RIGID BUT FLEXIBLE PERSPEX SHEETING AVAILABLE FROM HARDWARE STORES! BUT PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN OBTAIN THESE TYPE OF TOOLS AS TEXTURE REVIVALS STEP BY STEP GUIDE REQUIRES COMBS TO CREATE  A LOT OF THE DESIRED EFFECTS

SHOWN BELOW ARE A SOME PICTURES OF COMBS, THANK YOU FOR LOOKING.

Go on, Create a craze!

EASILY CREATE A STEP DOWN COVED CEILING

Many DIY enthusiasts consider coving/cornice/crown moulding their own ceiling/wall a chore and a task within itself, but I have created an amazing downloadable photographic step by step book that shows you how you can now fix smooth faced cornice/coving, and an ornamental plaster centre rose the easy way, making it now possible for you to do yourself, but in the process there is an attractive wall/plasterboard step feature that can be incorporated onto the ceiling to give an amazing “stepped finish” that will certainly impress everyone that sees it, materials are readily available in most DIY stores and these step down coved ceilings are really modern, fashionable & very easy to achieve, and to make the project really amazing you can add a decorative textured finish if you want to, whether for your own home or to start an exciting career for yourself in your area!
